Breul 23 (form. DSH)

Brief introduction

Since 1928, the building on the edge of the Altstadt has been the prime example of student housing. As one of the oldest student residences in Münster, the Deutsches Studentenheim (DSH) can look back on a long tradition. Here, students learned and lived together according to the motto officium meum est pontificum – my purpose is to build bridges.

The Deutsches Studentenheim will cease operations at the end of 2024, creating space for something new.

The Diocese of Münster has decided that a new building should be built on the site of the Deutsches Studentenheim or that the building should be converted for other purposes.

Until the final closure in September 2025, the rooms in Breul 23, formerly DSH, will remain accessible as discounted accommodation for students.

Rooms, furnishings, prices

Divided over 4 floors, there are two corridors for male students and two for female students.

The current rent for students for the approx. 15 – 18 square meter rooms is:

• 250.00 €/month (from 01.01.2025)

The price includes all bills such as electricity, water, heating, fees, etc.

A deposit of €400 is payable in addition to the rent. This will be refunded at the end of the tenancy, provided that no damage or similar has been caused by the tenant.

The spacious rooms are practically equipped. All rooms have a washbasin and are furnished with a bed, table and wardrobe.

The sanitary facilities (showers and toilets) are located in the respective corridors and are for shared use. They are cleaned on a daily basis (Mon. – Fri.) by an external cleaning company.

The residents have access to communal rooms and communal kitchens in the respective corridors. The organisation is the responsibility of the relevant corridor communities.
