Information about application documents

Dieses Funktion steht mobil leider nicht zur Verfügung.

At BSW, applications can only be made via our online form!
If you have any problems with the online application, please contact us.

Our application documents consist of:

  • Apply via the digital online form with your personal details
  • Letter of motivation: Please note the key questions below.
  • Tabular CV
  • References (optional)
  • Current certificate of study from a (technical) university in Münster

Please fill out your digital application completely. Please note that submitting complete application documents is a prerequisite for accepting your application.
The selection committees of the individual student residences use the application form to get an overview of the applicants. The application form also contains the contact details for further notifications and sending of documents.

With your letter of motivation, you give us and the officials in the selection committee a first impression of you. We would therefore be pleased to hear from you how you imagine life in a community and how you could, for example, get involved in the house community. To give you some guidance, we ask you to consider the following key questions in your letter of motivation:

  1. At BSW we want to promote diversity in our student halls of residence. We would like to get to know you. What would you like to tell us about yourself? What sets you apart? What could we look forward to if you lived in one of our student halls of residence?
  2. Our student halls of residence are characterized by christian values and a focus on community. How do you imagine life in community? What is important to you for living together?
  3. Our dormitory structures are characterized by voluntary commitment. Everyone can contribute their own ideas, take on positions and help shape events. How committed can you be to the community (talents, experiences, volunteer work…)?

The CV you submit must be complete and clearly comprehensible.

Although references are “optional” in our application process, meaningful references are very helpful for the selection committees when it comes to making a selection.
It has been shown that “honest” references from friends, good acquaintances or close people are often more helpful than “employment references” or “internship certificates”.

Apply now – even without a current certificate of enrolment!

You want to study in Münster? Have you applied to a university or university of applied sciences in Münster but haven’t received a current certificate of enrolment yet? No problem!
You can apply to the Bischöfliches Studierendenwerk Münster risk-free, even without an offer of admission. Due to high demand and the limited number of rooms, we recommend applying early. Our offer is aimed at students enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences in Münster.

You can submit your current certificate of enrolment later if you sign a contract. If you don’t receive a place at a university in Münster or decide to study elsewhere, you can withdraw from the preliminary contract free of charge by presenting a letter of rejection or admission from another university.

For already signed rental agreements:

  • Before the start of the contract: four-week notice period
  • For first-time contracts: shorter notice period during the first six months
